First Conditional em 1 minuto

O first conditional fala de uma condição real no futuro e do que provavelmente vai acontecer. É o nosso "se chover, a gente vai ao museu".

Atenção

  • Depois de if, o verbo fica no presente, mesmo falando do futuro: If it rains, e não If it will rain.
  • Na fala, will quase sempre vira 'll: I'll, we'll, you'll.
  • Com a condição primeiro, use vírgula. Com o resultado primeiro, não precisa: We'll wait for you if you call me.
  • No resultado também cabem can, may e should: If it rains, we can visit a museum.

Erros comuns de brasileiro

  • Errado:If it will rain, we will stay home.

    Certo:If it rains, we will stay home.

    Depois de if não se usa will. Onde o português usa o futuro do subjuntivo (se chover), o inglês usa o presente.

  • Errado:If you arrive on time, we have the whole day.

    Certo:If you arrive on time, we'll have the whole day.

    A consequência no futuro leva will.

  • Errado:If she come early, we'll leave at seven.

    Certo:If she comes early, we'll leave at seven.

    No presente, he, she e it pedem -s: she comes.

  • Errado:We'll go to the beach if don't rain.

    Certo:We'll go to the beach if it doesn't rain.

    Em inglês o sujeito não some: if it doesn't rain.

Dicas para usar em aula

  • Comece pela previsão do tempo do fim de semana. Pergunte What will you do if it rains? e escreva as respostas no quadro, separando a condição do resultado.
  • Na segunda escuta, os alunos anotam cada frase com if e marcam a condição de uma cor e o resultado de outra.
  • Faça uma corrente: um aluno diz If I go to the beach, I'll swim. O próximo começa pelo resultado: If I swim, I'll get hungry. E a corrente segue pela sala.
  • Para fechar, em grupos, cada um planeja um passeio e prepara um plano B em duas frases com if.

Perguntas frequentes

Qual a diferença entre first e second conditional?

O first fala de algo possível no futuro: If it rains, we'll stay home. O second fala de algo imaginado ou pouco provável: If I won the lottery, I would travel. Muda o verbo: presente e will no first, passado e would no second.

Por que não se usa will depois de if?

Porque a condição fica no presente em inglês, mesmo falando do futuro: If it rains, e não If it will rain. É o lugar onde o português usa o futuro do subjuntivo (se chover).

Pode começar a frase pelo resultado?

Pode. We'll visit a museum if it rains quer dizer o mesmo que If it rains, we'll visit a museum. Com o resultado primeiro, a vírgula não é necessária.

Para que turma serve esta atividade?
